Flashphone Beta : Free VoIP Calls From Browser
Tuesday

FlashPhone launches a free service that enables to make international/local calls directly from the Internet on your computer.
This service is currently in Beta stage therefore it can be accessed to limited number of countries(Complete list).
To make these calls you need only Adobe flash player(Ver.9 or above) and a headset.
To begin you must register with the site, filling out some general information. Then you are ready to go and can make your free international calls. When you want to make a call you are directed to a screen with which looks like a calling pad with all of the numbers two bottoms with images of phones, green to call red to hang up. From there you make your call remembering all of the country codes.
Temporarily, the call duration is limited to 3 minutes and 3 calls per day which can be easily extended by opening more accounts.Though this can't be used in Apple Iphone as it doesn't support Adobe Flash Player yet.Anyways, it's still a very cool and useful application that must be looked on.

Email anyone from anyone's email id
Wednesday

It's possible to send email to anyone from anyone's mail id without hacking it's password.Technically, this is called as email spoofing. If you carefully notice your spam box I am sure you will get around 2-3 messages having id stevejobs@apple.com or gates@microsoft.com.At the end of this post you will find a widget from where you can send these types of spam mails.
According to Wikepedia Email Spoofing can be defined as " A term used to describe fraudulent email activity in which the sender address and other parts of the email header are altered to appear as though the email originated from a different source. E-mail spoofing is a technique commonly used for spam e-mail and phishing to hide the origin of an e-mail message."
These types of Spam messages are still can't be filtered out by using GMail filters. Therefore I am still searching to find out there filtering method. While googling about this topic I stumbled upon Funmaza.com which have a software that can send these spam messages.Just try their software to send spam mails.

Group chat in Gmail
Friday

For a long time I was wondering why GMail hasn't introduced Group chat feature but finally wait is over as Gmail added group chat feature which let you chat with many friends in a group.Though this type of feature was already embedded into Yahoo Messenger. But GTalk now has replaced YMessanger to some extent. The main reason for this trend is importing of all contacts of Orkut in GTalk and obviously good looks of GTalk interface. To get started, follow these steps:
1. Start a chat with a single person in your Contacts list.
2. Once you've started the chat, click Options at the bottom left of your chat window and select Group Chat.
3. In the field labeled 'Add a person to this chat,' enter the name of the contact(s) you want to add to your group chat.
For more details visit GMail Support.

IE7 promotion ideas ??
Tuesday
There is no doubt that IE7 has been so far a flop show in front of Firefox and Opera. Besides having some good features ie7 hasn't created any buzz and many users have reported the add-ons is still the factor that separate both of them. Last night I received a mail forwarded by one of my friend titled " Microsoft-Dont miss the chance" and I am sure many of you have already received this mail.
The content of the mail is as follows.Dear Friends,
Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates is sharing his fortune. If you ignore this you will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.
When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.
For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00, for every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00. Within two week! s, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a cheque.
In addition to this there were few attachments carrying proof of the money

Looking at all these I think if this idea of promotion is forwarded by Microsoft then it sucks but I am sure that Microsoft like reputed company know better methods to promote their products. There is also most obvious possibility that this is mailed by rivals of ie7 who wants to defame their competitor. In either case IE7 is getting good promotion.

Add subtitles to movies
Sunday

Gom player is one of the finest media player that I have encountered. There are so many things that you can do in this player like playing broken video, repeating a section of movie ,screen capture etc. But today while watching a film I wasn't able to understand few dialogues which made me to search for subtitles option. And as usual Gom has this option also. For adding subtitles just search .srt files(in Kbs)of that particular movie on Google and download it.
Now,drag and drop this .srt file into the main screen of Gom when movie is loaded into the player and that's it you can watch the subtitles yourself.

Improve Firefox browser by FasterFox
Thursday

FasterFox is a Mozilla firefox add-on which is quite helpful to increase performance of firefox browser. Though it does not increase your Internet speed considerably but I found it quite useful while opening various tabs simultaneously
According to the official content of Mozilla which is stated below this add-on is more helful in sending and recieving DNS cache. While watching videos on youtube, this add-on certainly helps in improving the buffering of video content.Fasterfox allows you to tweak many network and rendering settings such as simultaneous connections, pipelining, cache, DNS cache, and initial paint delay.
Dynamic speed increases can be obtained with the unique prefetching mechanism, which recycles idle bandwidth by silently loading and caching all of the links on the page you are browsing.
Download this add-on at FasterFox(size=116 Kb).

55 Ways to Have Fun with Google
Tuesday
Last week one of my friend told me to read " 55 Ways to Have Fun with Google " by Philipp Lenssen . Since my end semester exams are approaching I completed this book last night after a span of almost 5 days.
Each chapter (some very short) in the book has a unique and interesting thing you can do with Google. And for most people, you will want to put the book down and go to your computer and try it after reading it. Some of those very interesting chapters include, "Googlebombing," "Googlepolls," "Growing a Google Word" and of course "EgoGoogling."This is an excellent read for both the geeky and the non geeky folks. I highly recommend to read these at least once.

Firefox 2.0.0.9 beta is out
Friday

If you are using Firefox then you had already get the latest update of Firefox 2.0.0.9 last night.
I must say Firefox team is upgrading their well popular product at very fast pace. Few months back they introduces 2.0.0.8 version .But due to large number of problems reported by users regarding the sudden shutdown of tabs is definitely one of the reason to introduce new improved version. I am not sure about the stability of newer version but Firefox site claims to be more advanced then previous one.
